MOUNT OLIVE -- Lillie Ward Rose, 92, 1165 W. Main St., formerly of 3579 U.S. 70 West, Goldsboro, until she moved into the home of her daughter, Margie and husband, Joe Powell, of Mount Olive in April of 2005, died Sunday.

A service to celebrate her life will be held Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

She also lived part time with a dear and loyal friend, Dee Ann White of the Rosewood Community.

Mrs. Rose was born in Wayne County and was the daughter of the late Daniel Clayton Ward and Edna Garris Ward. She was one of 11 children.

Mrs. Rose was married to the late Needham Rose, a farmer in the Fork Township Community. Together, Mr. and Mrs. Rose owned and operated the "Lily Rose Antique Shop" for 30 years on U.S. 70 west.

She was a member of Ebenezer Methodist Church since 1936 and served on many committees at the church. She loved her church family and was a good neighbor to all.

She is survived by her son, Michael J. Rose and wife, Donna, of the Ebenezer Church Community, and a daughter, Margie Rose Powell and husband, Joe, of Mount Olive. In addition to her children, Mrs. Rose is survived by one loving sister, Georgia Ward Gray and husband, Bob, of Wilmington; a dear sister-in-law, Merle Snipes Ward of Raleigh; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Rose was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Edna Rose Comer, and her eldest son, Bobby Sherrill Rose and wife, Merline Allen Rose. In addition to her two children, Mrs. Rose was also preceded in death by her four brothers, Raymond Ward, Pat L. Ward of Goldsboro, D.C. Ward Jr. of Raleigh and Joe Ward of Raleigh, and her five sisters, Virginia Ward Howell of Raleigh, Ruby Ward, Lila Ward Shelby, Blanch Ward King and Doris Ward Caviness.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Seymour Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Michael Rose, 3644 U.S. 70 West, Goldsboro.
