Nancy Broussard Edmundson, 81, Goldsboro, passed away Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Nancy was born in New Orleans, La., May 5, 1933, to the late Jerome Thomas and Tommye Griffis Broussard.

She attended Duke University, and graduated from Atlantic Christian College.

After completing her bachelor's degree in education, Nancy became a beloved teacher with Wayne County Public Schools, where she devoted her life to children for 30 years.

She was an active member of the North Carolina Retired School Personnel.

Nancy enjoyed sewing and gardening, and loved the many opportunities to mentor young people. She lived a life of dedication to her family and friends and to her community. Nancy served her community many ways through volunteering with the American Red Cross and the Boy Scouts of America.

A service celebrating Nancy's life will be held Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jill Biemdiek officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday following the service at the funeral home.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 62 years, Paul Edmundson Jr.; sons, Paul Burt Edmundson III and wife, Deborah, of Princeton and Richard Griffis Edmundson and wife, Barbara Jo, of Burke, Va.; daughter, Nancy Edmundson Hopkins and husband, William Phillip Hopkins, of Charlotte; sister, Kathleen B. Keel of Marietta, Ga.; brother, Jerome T. Broussard of Columbia Falls, Mo.; and her grandchildren, Jessica Marie Royall, Virginia Elizabeth Hopkins, Nancy Jean Edmundson and Mary Katherine Hopkins.

Memorials may be given in memory of Nancy to the North Carolina Retired School Personnel Scholarship Foundation, 1906 Elton Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
