CHARLES WILLIAM GARDNER

Died Aug. 4, 2010

GOLDSBORO -- Charles William Gardner, 82, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Charles was born in Wayne County to the late William Gardner and Julia Howell Gardner.

Charles served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He retired from the city of Goldsboro.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. David Toulson with elder Harold Pittman assisting. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park with military honors.

Charles is survived by his wife of 601/2 years, Shirley Kirby Gardner, and his sister, Ora Bell Barfield of Kinston.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Malcolm Gardner, and his sisters, Ida Tillman, Mary Ellen Gardner, Nora Barfield, Emma Sasser and Virginia Lancaster.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Trinity Independent Baptist Church at 136 Aulander Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530, or Kitty Askins Hospice Center at 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
