HILDA NEWCOMB GOFF

Hilda Newcomb Goff, 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010.

Funeral services will be held today, Aug. 8, 2010, at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Eureka Cemetery.

Mrs. Goff was born in Durham on Feb. 4, 1938, to the late Jasper and Bessie Gurley Newcomb. She was a member of Pikeville PFWB Church and past member of the Fremont Rescue Squad Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Goff was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.

She is survived by two sons, Phillip Wayne Goff of Goldsboro and Tommy Westbrook; three daughters, Brenda Tanner and husband, Normand, of Garner, Pamela Singletary and husband, Ronnie, of Clayton and Wendy Goff-Sasser and husband, Kevin, of Goldsboro; one brother, Fred Newcomb and wife, Myrtle, of Goldsboro; one sister, Grace Johnson and husband, Richard, of Pikeville; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Goff was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne McCoy Goff.
