Victor Ray Holland Sr., 81, of Pikeville passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord surrounded by family on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
A celebration of life will be held at Howell Funeral Home today, March 3, 2013, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Doug Johnson officiating and the visitation to follow.
Victor was born on Dec. 21, 1931, in Wayne County to Sam and Alma Holland. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War in which he received a Purple Heart, along with two Bronze Service Stars.
He is survived by his two remaining children, daughter Vicki Quillen (Michael), son Vic Holland Jr. and wife, Tiffany; special son, Dwane Bowers; grandchildren, William D. "Trey" Lane III and Kalin Bennet; Matthew Lane and wife, Melissa; Taylor Bowers and Kayla Garris; Chase Bowers, Makenzie Bowers, and Warner Holland; great-grandchildren, William D. "Will" Lane IV, Kaiden Lane and Paylan Bowers; two brothers, Billy and N.T. Holland; one sister, Goldie Jones, and special family friends, Roland and Belinda Dail and Luby Hines.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie C. Holland; daughter, Belinda C. Lane and his parents, Sam and Alma Holland; and three other siblings.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
