MABEL H. BISHOP

MOUNT OLIVE -- Mabel Hudson Bishop, 91, died Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Duplin General Hospital, in Kenansville.

Funeral services will be held tonight at 7 p.m. from the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark Hobbs and the Rev. Leon Grubbs will officiate, with visitation immediately following. Burial will be Tuesday, March 5, at 11 a.m., in the Snow Hill Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Bishop is survived by a daughter, Gwendolyn Bishop of Mount Olive; two granddaughters, Cheryl W. Byrum of Pantego, N.C., and Celia Williams of Mount Olive; six great-grandchildren, Candice May, Cristain Cain, Christopher Perry, Cameron Perry, Dennis Waters, Jr. and Michael A. Waters; five great-great-grandchildren, Haleigh Grubbs, Natalee Waters, Trinity Cain and Ashlynn Cain; a great-great-granddaughter, Alexie Burns; a sister, Isabelle H. Roberts of Mount Olive; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rhuben A. Bishop; a granddaughter, Cynthia Williams; her parents, Samuel D. and Annie Grady Hudson; three sisters, Elizabeth H. Jones, Juanita H. Whitfield and Emma Hudson; and two brothers, Elsworth and Rudolph Hudson.

Mrs. Bishop was a native of the Rones Chapel community near Mount Olive, and since her marriage, she had been a resident of Red Hill Road in the Pleasant Grove community where she was a long-time member of Snow Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church. The last five years of her life were spent at Kenansville Health and Rehab Center where she was loved and cared for by its compassionate staff.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Tyndall Funeral Home.
