FREMONT -- Delton Brantley Davis, 83, passed away Thursday.
He was a retired farmer and newspaper carrier for The Wilson Daily Times.
Delton was a member of Fremont Missionary Baptist Church, and faithfully served as a deacon for several years.
He was a loving father, grandfather and friend.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cleo Davis; his brother, Hugh Davis; and sister, Bonnie DeBruhl.
He is survived by his children, Donna West (James) of Chapel Hill, Danny Davis of Fremont and Jackie Purcell (Trip) of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Alan West (Jennifer), Jason West (Claire), Paul West, Joannah Lassiter (Adam), John Davis (April), Skip Purcell (Sarah) and Laine Purcell; and seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fremont Missionary Baptist Church, 108 N. Vance St., Fremont, N.C., 27830.
Arrangements are by Shackleford Howell Funeral Home of Fremont.
Services will be held Saturday, March 2, beginning with a visitation at 1 p.m. in the fellowship hall at Fremont Missionary Baptist Church, followed by a funeral at 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Graveside services will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.
