JIMMY G. GOODMAN

MOUNT OLIVE -- Jimmy Gray Goodman, 67, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro.

Funeral services will be held today, at Rooty Branch Free Will Baptist Church, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Mickey Whitfield officiating the service. Burial will immediately follow in the Goodman Cemetery, located at the church. The family will receive friends following the burial in the church fellowship hall.

A native of Summerlin's Crossroads, he was the son of the late Foye an Nettie Brown Goodman. He was a lifelong farmer and a member of Rooty Branch Original Free Will Baptist Church, where he was involved in the Men's Fellowship, and played and active role in the boy scouts troop there. Jimmy had also retired from the state Department of Transportation, Highway Division. Jimmy loved to play and coach softball, go fishing and coon hunting, and was an avid beekeeper. He was licensed by the state association as a certified beekeeper, and was a member of Onslow, Lenoir, and Sampson County Beekeeper's Association.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Sue Brock Goodman; two sons, Michael Goodman, and Darren Goodman, both of Mount Olive; three grandchildren, Olivia Goodman and her mother, Ann Hutsell, and Autumn and Logan Goodman, and their mother, Sarah Kelly; a brother and sister-in-law, Milton Adrian and Betty Goodman of Mount Olive; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Janice G. and Donald Pate, and Marilyn G. and Reginald Carter all of Mount Olive; two other sisters-in-law, Luvine "Lucy" Goodman of Greensboro, Virginia Goodman of Mount Olive, and Jeannette Goodman of Clinton; his mother-in-law, Ernestine S. Brock of Mount Olive; a brother-in-law and wife, Allen and Gaye Brock of Mount Olive; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by sisters, Florene G. Watson and Ann G. Green; and brothers, F.L. Goodman, Joseph Goodman, Robert "Bob" Goodman, and George Goodman.
