Carol Hofmann Toms, 66, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family.

A service remembering the life of Carol will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Johnson officiating. Private interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Carol was born in Port Jefferson, N.Y. on March 21, 1946, to the late Louis and Margaret Meyer Hofmann. She was a retired health care technician at Dorothea Dix Hospital in Raleigh. Carol was a member of the Goldsboro Worship Center where she was involved in the Convalescent Ministry. For many years, Carol was involved in the Boy Scouts and served as a Den mother. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Carol will always be loved by her children and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

Carol is survived by her husband of 50 years, Richard Charles Toms; her sons, Louis Toms and wife, Darcie, of Asheville, David Toms of Goldsboro and Steven Toms and wife, Jennifer, of Goldsboro; her grandchildren, Trentt Toms, Dakota Toms and Mattilyn Toms; her brothers, Raymond Hofmann of New Jersey and John Hofmann of New York; her sister, Linda Hofmann Butti of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
