Isidoro Flores, 87, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

Funeral services will be held this evening at 7 p.m. at the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be held at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Mr. Flores was born in Puerto Rico on May 12, 1925, to the late Valerio and Carmen Cruz Flores. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Flores was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired with 35 years of service from the U.S Postal Service.

He was a tireless volunteer at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Wayne County Watch Mobile and other charities and events in Goldsboro.

Mr. Flores was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Flores.

He is survived by one son, Hector Flores of Massachusetts; two daughters, Grace Flores of Conneticut and Nancy Sayers and husband, David, of Goldsboro; two brothers, Valerio Flores of Puerto Rico and Cesar Flores of Puerto Rico; three sisters, Carmen Flores of Florida, Maria Flores of Puerto Rico and Juanita Flores of Puerto Rico; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
