YOUNGSVILLE -- Danny Lee Thornton, 66, resident of Youngsville, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at Wake Med.
He was a native of Alamance County, and was the son of the late Daniel James Thornton and Essie Lucus Thornton.
Mr. Thornton was a retired captain with Raleigh Fire Department, and a veteran of the United States Navy.
A memorial service will be conducted Friday night, Oct. 29, 2010, at 8 p.m. at Hall Wynne Funeral Home Franklinton chapel, with the Rev. Clyde Waiden
officiating.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. prior to the service.
Surviving are his daughter, Michele Thornton Bogue and husband, Jeff, of Goldsboro; sister, Betty Garrett and husband, George, of Durham; brother, Charles Steve Varner of Spring Hope; two grandchildren, Brendan Rouse and Matthew Bogue both of Goldsboro; and nieces, Toni Colon and husband, Sam, Donna Brickey and husband, Dennis, and Patricia Franks and husband, Paul.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Carolina Fallen Firefighters Foundation, 2501 Blue Ridge Road, Suite 250, Raleigh, N.C., 27607.
The Thornton family is under the care of Hall Wynne Funeral Home Franklinton.
