MOTHER MARY INGRAM SMITH and MARY LEE JONES

MOUNT OLIVE -- Mother Mary Ingram Smith, 91, of 202 E. Hillsboro St., and Mary Lee Jones, 73, of 539 Quintana Place NW, Washington, D.C., formerly of Mount Olive, died Tuesday as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident.
Home-going services for Mother Smith and Mrs. Jones will be held Monday at noon at Goldsboro-Raleigh Assembly Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, 214 W. Hooks River Road. Dr. Joseph Warren Jr. will officiate. Internment will follow in Carver Cemetery.
Born in Duplin County, Mother Smith was the daughter of the late George Sr. and Minnie Williams Ingram. She was a faithful member of St. James Disciple Church of Christ, where she served on the mother board.
She is survived by four sons and their wives, Raphael Cromartie of Sacramento, Calif., Bobby and Stacey Cromartie of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Adlose and Violet Cromartie of Alexandria, Va., and Alton and Edna Cromartie of Seven Springs; one sister, Alma Armstrong of Dudley; goddaughter, Florence Dreher of New York, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held today from 3 until 6 p.m. at Garris Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Jones was also born in Duplin County and was the daughter of the late James Herman Carlton and Mary Ingram Smith.
Her survivors include her husband, Lonnie Jones of Washington, D.C.; two daughters, Carolyn Jones of Washington, D.C., and Beverly Robinson and husband Phillip Robinson of Washington, D.C.; eight brothers and their wives, Raphael Cromartie of Sacramento, Calif., Bobby and Stacey Cromartie of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Adlose and Violet Cromartie of Alexandria, Va., Alton and Edna Cromartie of Seven Springs, Larry Carlton of Delaware, Michael Carlton of Delaware, Reginald Carlton of Philadelphia, Pa., and Jimmy Carlton of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sisters, Loretta McClain and Veronica Norris of Philadelphia; and three grandchildren.
At Mrs. Jones' request there will be no public viewing, however, a memorial DVD reflecting her and her mother's love for God, family and friends will be shared with those who knew and loved them.
