CLARENCE MONROE MCCARY

Clarence M. McCary, 91, resident of the Sterling House in Goldsboro, died Monday morning, Oct. 11, after a short illness.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, with Dr. Tom Harper of Second Baptist Church presiding.

Surviving are children, Marion Stewart of Cary, Margaret McCary of Pensacola, Fla., and Mark McCary and wife, Donna, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Benjamin McCary and wife, Elizabeth, of Goldsboro and Stacie McCary of Goldsboro; brother, Dr. Joe E. McCary of Caldwell, Idaho; and a sister, Margaret Olin of Charlottesville, Va.

His wife of 67 years, Brookie, preceded him in death Sept. 14, 2010.

Clarence was a veteran of World War II, serving with the 15th Army Air Force as a technical sergeant on B-24s in missions of Ploesti, Romania and Sicily.

He was employed as a chemical engineer with Union Carbide Corp., following the war until his retirement in 1978.

The family will greet friends at Seymour Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight, and other times at 453 Old Mount Olive Highway in Dudley at the home of Mark and Donna McCary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Kitty Askins Center at 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
