LAGRANGE -- Robert "Red" Gray, 85, of LaGrange, passed away Sunday. "Red" was born Oct. 21, 1924, in Wayne County to the late Claudie and Hannah Walters Gray.

"Red" was a lifelong farmer and a member of Walnut Creek Free Will Baptist Church. "Red" had a great love of the farming life and enjoyed time spent in the garden, tending to the cows and riding around the farm on his four-wheeler.

A graveside service of remembrance will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from
the Gray Family Cemetery with the Rev. Tony McLamb officiating.

"Red" is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mildred Williams Gray; four children, Ronnie Gray of Greensboro, Julia Gay and husband, Joe, of LaGrange, Eleanor Evans and husband, Randy, of LaGrange, Jerry Lee Gray of LaGrange; two sisters, Nancy Cruse and husband, William, of LaGrange and Gertie Duncan and husband, Jack, of Orangevale, Calif.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a special nephew, Randy Gray.

"Red" was preceded in death by his sister; Ruth Smith; and brothers, Roland Gray, Roy Gray, Richard Gray, Raymond Gray and Noah Gray.
