ANN R. JOHNSON

SNOW HILL -- Mrs. Ann Rouse Johnson, 67, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday evening at her home surrounded by her family and close friends following a courageous battle with cancer.

A native of Lenoir County, she was born March 27, 1943, the daughter of Preston Abner and Annie Elizabeth Alphin Rouse. She was a 1961 graduate of Grainger High School and cherished her friendship with her Red Hat Classmates.

Ann was a member of Harrell's Chapel FWB Church where she was a member of the Lady's Auxiliary and choir, as well as served in other church ministries and committees. A bright smile and cheerful demeanor were her trademarks and will be an ever present memory to her family and friends.

Surviving are her devoted husband, Jimmy L. Johnson; daughter, Lee Ann Johnson Goodson and husband, Rod, of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Jeffrey Goodson and wife, Carrie, Amber Williams and husband, Matt, and Jarrett Goodson, all of Jacksonville; a great-grandson, Cooper Williams; a sister, Linda R. Taylor and husband, Charles of Topeka, Kan.; a brother, Ray Suggs and wife, Nancy of Morehead City; a very special and close friend, Betty Kinney of Kinston; sisters-in-law, Peggy J. Bartlett and husband, Kenneth, of Goldsboro, Mavis J. VanRoekel and husband, Johnnie, of Goldsboro, and Joyce J. Harrell of Snow Hill; several nieces and nephews; and her church family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter.

Graveside services will be held 11a.m. Tuesday at the Snow Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends today throughout the day at the residence, 1665 Corbett Town Road, Snow Hill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harrell's Chapel FWB Church Building Fund, c/o Arlene McCoy, 78 Dixon Road, Snow Hill, NC 28580.

Arrangements are being handled by Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service.
