Retired Air Force Lieutenant Col. Bradley Winston Carmichael went to be with his Lord Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A celebration of Brad's life will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Gateway Community Church, 401 W. Main St. in Pikeville, with pastor Thayer Stamper officiating. Interment with full military honors will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.

Brad was born in Pickering, Mo., Feb. 4, 1935, to the late Donald Carmichael and Marjorie Porterfield Greenwalt.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 24 years and also owned and operated Carmichael and Associates in Goldsboro.

Brad will be remembered as a devoted husband of 41 years to Mary Ann Pustelak Carmichael and as Papa to 13 grandchildren.

He was past master and secretary of Goldsboro Masonic Lodge #634 A.F. & A.M. and he also volunteered at Wayne Pregnancy Care Center, where he was affectionately known as "Mr. B."

In addition to his wife, Brad is survived by his children, Lori Jo Carmichael of Morrisville, Scott Bradley Carmichael of Carthage, Jennifer Carmichael Finn and husband, Guy, of Knightdale and Jeff Charles Carmichael of Powhatan, Va.; his sister, Barbara Wollenhaupt and husband, Carl, of California; his brothers, Bud Carmichael and wife, Sandy, of Texas, Randy Carmichael and wife, Phyllis, of Ohio, and Mike Greenwalt of Indiana; his brother-in-law, Foster Little of Ohio; and 13 grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandy Little.

The family will receive friends Friday following the service at the church.
