WARSAW -- James Melvin Harris, 80, passed away Friday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Warsaw Baptist Church. Burial will be in Devotional Gardens of Warsaw.

Mr. Harris was born Dec. 30, 1929, in Sampson County to the late Isham Alvin and Gladys King Harris.

He is survived by a son, Christopher Harris and wife, Stephanie, of Kenansville; daughters, Darlene Guise and husband, George, of Pearson, Ga., and Vivian Harris of Kenansville; brothers, Roy Harris and wife, Gwen of Garner and Danny Harris of Clinton; sister, Julia Raynor and husband, Bob of Raleigh; sisters-in-law, Mae Harris of Roseboro and Henrietta Kirby and husband, Gene, of Clinton; grandchildren, Jamie Bowles and husband, Chris, of Warsaw, Michael Harris of Kenansville and Brandon Harris of Wilmington; great-grandchildren, Chloe Bowles and Bailey Bowles; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Faye Bradshaw Harris, and a brother, Alvin Harris Jr.

Visitation will be held Wednesday a 10 a.m. at Warsaw Baptist Church.

Community Funeral Home of Warsaw is handling the arrangements.
