RONALD HICKS

In profound sorrow the president and staff of E. M. Matthews Funeral Home and Cremation Inc., announces the passing of Mr. Ronald Hicks, 44, 508 S. Pineview Ave. Monday in the early morning hours the Angel of the Lord descended from Heaven and came down to the bedside of Ronald La Mar Hicks to usher him home to the other side, where he now resides in the Paradise of God.

Ronald LaMar Hicks son of Roy Lee and Mary Jean Hicks-Hall was born April 5, 1965. Along with his parents, he was nourished and taught how to live by his most loved Aunt Izora Kindell and educated in the public schools of Boston, Mass.

On May 26, 2001, he was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life Shirley Jean Hoyt, and was a faithful loving, husband, father and grandfather.

Ron was a dedicated worker at Jet A Way Inc. while in Boston, Mass., and Franklin Baking of Goldsboro. Having accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, on Easter Sunday, March 28, 2008, he attended Deeper Life Church Ministries under the leadership of Apostle Norbert and First Lady Gwen Simmons.

Ron leaves a legacy of love to his loving wife, Shirley Hoyt-Hicks; his devoted children Tatiana, Aaliyah, Zariyah, Xavier and Aarani; adoring granddaughter Daijah; adoring goddaughter Paradise Maeila Taylor (Ann Arbor, Mich.); mother (Boston, Mass.) Mary Hicks-Hall; father (New York) Roy Lee Hicks; nurturing maternal aunt (Boston, Mass.) Izora Kindell; mother and father-in-law (home) Thelma and Frank Gardner; father-in-law (home) William Tate; sisters (Boston, Mass.) Ramona Lane (Charles) and Matreana Hicks; sister-in-law (home) Angela Leary (Ernest); sisters-in-law (Boston, Mass.) Debra Hoyt Evelyn Burnett (Danenon); brother-in-laws (Boston, Mass.) Terry Williams and Timothy Hoyt (Crystel); brother-in-law (Atlanta, Ga.) the Rev. William Tate; brother-in-law (Floral Park, N.Y.) Gregory Hoyt; nieces (Boston, Mass.) Shamia Hicks, Mya Wilbourne and Nadia Lane; nephews (Boston, Mass.) Mario Wilbourne and Manuel Wilbourne.

With much love and admiration he also leaves two cherished friends in Rossi Russell and Raymond Quinn (Boston, Mass.); and a great host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of life services will be held at noon Saturday at Deeper Life Church Ministries, 900 Eleventh St., Goldsboro, with minister Henry Williams officating. A vistitation will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon at the church. Mr. Hicks' mortal remains will be laid to rest on this side of the River Jordan at Old Mill Cemetery in Goldsboro.

His earthly temple is peacefully resting at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home and Cremations 401 N. William St. Goldsboro.
