Melvin "Scob" Jackson Sr., 77, died Thursday at his home. He is survived by his wife, Verleaner Jackson of the home; two daughters, Angelyn Taylor of the home, Melody Webb of Kinston; two sons, Melvin Jr. of Atlanta, Ga., Sherwood Jackson of Goldsboro; and one brother, Samuel Jackson of Goldsboro.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Goldsboro Chapel FWB Church, 1314 Ben Brewington Court. Pastor James Collins will officiate. Burial will follow at Old Mill Cemetery. A public viewing will be held on Monday from 3 until 6 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St.
