OLA MAE EXUM

Ola Mae Exum, 90, 507 Lynn Ave., departed this earthly life and went home to be with the Lord Wednesday.

Funeral services will be today at 2:30 at Woods Chapel FWB Church with Eldress Wooten officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mill Cemetery.

Mrs. Exum was born March 30, 1919, in Sumter, SC, to Samuel and Rosanna McKenzie. She attended Central High School, where she met Leroy. They were married May, 1937. Of this union, five children were born.

Ola joined Woods Chapel FWB Church and accepted Christ early in her life. She was a member of the choir, floral club, home mission and mother board. She worked at J.P. Taylor's tobacco factory and Sleepy Creek Turkey Hatchery, until her retirement. She loved her flower garden and vegetable garden and generously shared them with everyone she knew.

Ola was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy, a daughter, Delores, and a son, William.

She leaves to cherish her wondrous memories, daughters, Sylvia McEachin (Robert) of Richmond, Va., Cynthia Kelly (Milas) of Goldsboro, Evelyn Knight of Laurel, Md.; son, Eugene Exum (Thelma) of Philadelphia, Pa.; brothers, Burl McKenzie of Philadelphia, Pa., and Hiawatha McKenzie of Goldsboro; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A wake was held Saturday from 7 until 8 p.m. at Woods Chapel FWB Church.

Arrangements are being handled by Mitchell's Funeral Home, LLC, Greenville.
