HELEN COWARD BLAND

VANCEBORO -- Mrs. Helen Coward Gaskins Bland, 90, died Saturday Jan. 9, 2010.

The funeral service will be conducted on Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Epworth United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Bland, a native of Beaufort County, lived most of her life in Craven County. She was employed with Cannon Variety Store for 20 years. She was a member of the Vanceboro Fireman Auxiliary, Epworth United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's Choir.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde R. Gaskins; her second husband, G.S. "Pug" Bland; and a stepson, Jackie Bland.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy Gaskins Moore and husband, Jimmy, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Robert Earl Lane and wife, Holly, of Hendersonville, and Richard K. Lane and wife, Heather, of Wilmington; three great-grandchildren, Patrick, William, and Gavin Lane; stepson, John Bland, of Mass., and Shade Bland and wife, Sharon, of Vanceboro; stepdaughter, Donna Gladson and husband, Greg, of Simpson; and stepdaughter-in-law, Sue Bland, of Greenville.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
