LYNWARD "CHAMP" GRANT

Lynward "Champ" Grant, 66, departed this walk of life on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Old Mill Cemetery in Goldsboro. The Rev. Dr. Williams will officiate. The body will lie in state on Monday from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., with the family present from 1 until 1:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
He was born in Wayne County on April 7, 1943, to the late Matthew Grant and Mollie Wooten Grant.
Champ leaves to cherish his memories two sisters, Bertha Grant Grant of Goldsboro and Dorsey Rhodes of Ohio; two brothers, Ivory Grant of Maryland and Harold Grant of Washington, D.C.; and a special nephew, Robert Thompson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers.
