FREMONT -- Scott Michael Knopick, 39, passed away suddenly Saturday at his home.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Dutton officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.

Scott was born in Warren, Pa., Jan. 21, 1970, and was the son of the late Susan Best Knopick.

He was employed as an electrician with Vinson Electric in Goldsboro. Scott was assistant scout master for Boy Scout Troop no. 12 in Fremont. He loved to fish and hunt, but his greatest passion was spending time with his wife and children.

Scott is survived by his wife, Xan Benton Knopick, and their children, Skylar Ashlyn Knopick and Braeden Scott Knopick. He is also survived by his brother, Greg Knopick of Warren, Pa., his sister, Kristin Knopick of Pinellas Park, Fla.; his mother-in-law, Marie Fulghum Benton of Goldsboro; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ernie and Beverly Vinson of Goldsboro and Mike and Pam Benton all of Goldsboro; and his niece and nephew, Brittany Vinson Jones and husband, Dane, and Brandon Vinson all of Goldsboro.

In addition to his mother, Scott was preceded in death by a son, Layne Michael Knopick; his father-in-law, Richard Paul Benton; and his grandparents, Robert and Dorothy Best.

The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7 at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
