NORMA W. SHELBY
May 23, 1940-July 6, 2009
Norma Wharton Shelby passed away Monday at Duke Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Willow Dale Cemetery, with the Rev. Joseph Leonard and the Rev. Danny Johnson officiating.
Norma was born in Wayne County on May 23, 1940, and was the daughter of the late R.V. Wharton and Percy Capps Wharton.
She owned and operated Norma's Dress Shop in Goldsboro for many years. Norma was a member of Goldsboro Worship Center.
Norma is survived by her husband, Fred Shelby; her son, Tom Shelby and wife, Sherry, of Goldsboro; her daughter, Nicole Shelby Roche and husband, Greg, of Wilmington; and two grandchildren, John Parker Roche and Shelby Elizabeth Roche.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 28105.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Seymour Funeral Home.
