ASHLEY B. DUNCAN

July 27, 1992-June 3, 2009

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Ashley Brooke Duncan, 16, 146 Thelma Duncan Lane, went home to be with her Lord and Savior. Now at peace, she died early Wednesday morning surrounded by family and dear friends, following an illness since birth.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, with Pastor Kenneth Stevens and C. R. "Chet" Whitman officiating. Burial will follow in the Duncan-Tillman Cemetery near the residence.

Ashley is survived by her loving parents, Danny and Iris Whitman Duncan of the home; her loving sister and brother-in-law, Helen D. and pastor Kenneth Stevens of Seven Springs; two dear nieces, Kayla and Trista Stevens, and a dear nephew, Jesse Stevens all of Seven Springs; her special aunts and uncles, Jo Ann and Reid Cooper, and daughter, Chelsey, of Seven Springs, Shirley and Steve Worrell of Mount Olive, Edna Price of Seven Springs, Wendell and Margaret Whitman of Goldsboro, Durwood and Zodie Whitman of La Grange, Doug and Sandy Whitman of Albertson, C. R. "Chet" and Sandra Whitman of Grantham, Bobby and Danine Duncan of Seven Springs, and Conny Duncan Sr. and Roxie Duncan of Seven Springs; and numerous beloved cousins.

Miss Duncan was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Willard and Ardell Whitman; her paternal grandparents, Bobby and Thelma Duncan; and an uncle, Donald Ray Whitman all of whom were from Seven Springs.

Pallbearers will be Wendell, Durwood, Doug and C. R. "Chet" Whitman, Bobby Duncan and Conny Duncan Jr.

The family wishes to extend a special heartfelt thanks to Ashley's caregivers, Roberta Best and Sallie Smith, R.N., both of Clinton, and Susan Barfield of Kinston; and Dr. Larry Nickens and his staff for making Ashley's life as comfortable as possible. "Dr. Nickens, you were truly a blessing."

Special thanks are also extended to our own families, who were there whenever we needed you, and to Preston Parker of Parker Drug Company in Mount Olive. To all of you: "We could not have done what we did without you. Thank you."

Flowers are welcome, or memorial gifts may be made a charity of your choice.

Friends and family will be received in the funeral home chapel tonight from 7 to 9, and at other times at the residence.
