WARREN J. ROBERTS

Retired Army Master Sgt. Warren Jerill Roberts died Thursday morning at the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with pastor Michael Coppock and pastor Matt Fry officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park with full military honors.

Warren was born in Johnston County Aug. 3, 1922, to the late William Arler Roberts and Eva Lida Coats Roberts.

He retired from the United States Army with more than 27 years of service, having served our country in World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam. His service assignments were the 175th 3rd Army Regiment infantry in World War II, infantry in Korea and helicopter mechanic in Vietnam.

After his Army career, Warren worked as a salesman at Frema Motors and as a mechanic with Textilease and Ryder Truck Rental.

He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.

Warren is survived by his wife, Cora Lee Hill Roberts; his daughter, Patricia Roberts Stephenson and husband, Reid, of Garner; his sons, Meredith G. Roberts and wife, Joann, of Princeton and Stephen C. Roberts and friend, Hilda, of Pikeville; his granddaughters, Melanie Roberts Rains and husband, Bryan, of Princeton and Jerrie Roberts Barbato and husband, Ricky, of Princeton; his great-grandchildren, Zoe, Hailey, Gina and Law; and two brothers, Eugene Roberts of Chapel Hill and Daniel Roberts of California.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 112 Patrick S., Goldsboro, NC, 27530.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Seymour Funeral Home.
