PIKEVILLE -- Teresa "Terry" Byrd Anderson, 50, died Monday.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Hill and the Rev. Kelvin Gurley officiating. Interment will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

She was an inspiration of strength and courage during her long journey with cancer.

She was born in Wayne County on Jan. 7, 1959, to Dallas Byrd and the late Christine Byrd.

She graduated from Southern Wayne High School and Wayne Community College. She was an educational developmental aide at Selma Elementary School.

She loved children, and especially her cats and dogs.

She is survived by her father, Dallas Byrd and wife, Jean, of Mount Olive; her daughter, Amanda Anderson and fiance´, Brian Ginn, of Raleigh; her sister, Lynn Owens and husband, Brooks, of Wilson; her stepsister, Kim Kornegay; her stepbrothers, Junior Kornegay and wife, Bobbie Jean, and Randy Kornegay all of Mount Olive; her niece, Christy Gardner of Goldsboro; her nephew, Justin Gardner and wife, Natalie, of Pikeville; her stepniece, Pamela Kornegay of Mount Olive; her stepnephew, John Overton of Snider, Texas; and her dear friend, Jay Vail of Pikeville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Randy Anderson; her mother, Christine Byrd; and nephew, Brandon Jennette.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Keith Lerro and his staff and most recently the kind and loving staff at Britthaven and Community Home Care and Hospice in Wilson.

The family will receive friends Wednesday following the service, and other times at the home of her father and mother, Dallas and Jean Byrd, 108 Jean St., Mount Olive.
