Warriors, Golden Falcons eliminated from east 3A tennis regionals

WILSON -- Eastern Wayne's Ethan Quinn and Charles B. Aycock's No. 2 doubles of Stanton Head-Nick Coston reached the quarterfinals of the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 3-A eastern regionals.
Quinn defeated South Brunswick's Caleb Hemphill 6-7 (3), 7-5, 6-1. He dropped his second-round match to Cleveland's Dylan Belancourt.
Head-Coston opened regional action with a 6-0, 6-1 romp over Western Harnett's tandem of Nic Clark-Christian Carpenter. The Golden Falcons' regional run ended with a straight-set loss to Fike's doubles of Reid Harris-Sunny Sandhu.
Eastern Carolina Conference singles champ Le Solomon lost 7-5, 6-3 to Rocky Mount's George Shannon in the first round.
Aycock's duo of Chas Hooks-Allan Best, the ECC doubles champs, stumbled 6-4, 2-6, 5-7 to Fike's Lee Homes-Will Benson.
Charles B. Aycock won the 3-A portion of the Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference and drew the league's No. 1 seed for the NCHSAA dual-team playoffs. The Golden Falcons lost their first-round match to perennial powerhouse Fayetteville Terry Sanford.
