UMO knocks off No. 12-ranked Catawba

MOUNT OLIVE -- Gunnar Kines surrendered 10 hits in a seven-inning stint as No. 28-ranked University of Mount Olive handed in-state region foe Catawba a 9-4, non-conference loss at Scarborough Field on Monday afternoon.
Kines retired eight Indians on strikeouts. Dario Santangelo closed the door on No. 12-ranked Catawba in the ninth for the save.
Kilgore Gaimard batted 2-for-5 and swatted a home run for the Trojans. Zak Orrison (RBI) and Jason Morozowski (RBI) provided two hits apiece. Orrison and Morozowski combined for six of UMO's eight stolen bases on the day.
Justin Manning, Joe Koehler and Brett Lang (RBI) each had one it.
The Trojans (35-14 overall) conclude regular-season play at home Wednesday against in-region foe Francis Marion (S.C.) University. First pitch is 5 p.m.
