SHELBA S. DAUGHTRY

Shelba Jean "Shelby" Sutton Daughtry, 77, passed away Thursday at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her family.

Shelby was born in Wayne County on Nov. 18, 1936, to the late Raymond Whitfield Sutton and Glennie Belle Britt Sutton. She was married to the late Rev. Elbert Glenn Daughtry. Shelby was a 1955 graduate of Grantham High School and had attended Mount Olive College.

Along with her husband, they owned and operated Daughtry Maintenance Co. She was a member of Faith Believers Outreach Church, where she served as treasurer. Shelby was serving as secretary of the conference for the Community Bible Church of God Inc.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at 5 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael Stevens officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Shelby is survived by her children, Raymond Glenn Daughtry and wife, Betty Sue, Jeanie Nanette Gardner and husband, Joseph Ray, and Jacqueline L. Jones and husband, Jimmy, all of Goldsboro; and her sisters, Shirley Faye Thigpen of Goldsboro and Dorothy Mae Bowden of Mount Olive. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Daughtry, Jennie Gardner, Cynthia Joanna Gardner, Shelby L. Jones and Emily R. Jones.

In addition to her husband and parents, Shelby was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jacqueline Elizabeth Daughtry, and a brother, Robert Whitfield Sutton.

Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to WAGES, Meals on Wheels, 601 Royall Ave., Goldsboro, NC 27534.
