ROCKAWAY, N.Y. -- Helen Grandy Cherry, 79, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at her home in Rockaway Park, N.Y.
Helen was born in Wayne County Aug. 18, 1934, to the late James A. Grandy and Inez Becton Grandy.
She retired from Trans World Airlines after many years of service.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, in the J.B. Rhodes Jr. Memorial Chapel at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremations, with elder James E. Collins officiating.
Viewing will be one hour prior to the funeral.
Interment will be at Wayne Memorial Park South.
Helen is survived by her husband, Donald Cherry Sr. of California; a daughter, Donna Deady of New York; a son, Donald C. Cherry of New York; two grandchildren, Amber Gillian and husband, Joseph, of Hanover, Md., and Thea Deady of New Jersey; a great-grandchild, Allanah Riley of Hanover, Md.; and a brother, Ervin R. Grandy and wife, Shirley, of Goldsboro.
The family will receive friends at 512 Olivia Lane, where it will assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.
