Russell Patrick Davis, 49, died of cancer Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, surrounded by family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Erin Taylor Davis; his mother, Mary Lou (Davis) Pugh of Kinston; his brothers, Howard and Michael; three nephews; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard L. Davis of Pink Hill.

Graveside services will be held Friday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m. at Westview Cemetery in Kinston, N.C.

Funeral arrangements are by Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home of Goldsboro, N.C.

Russell was an accomplished drummer and a longtime employee of SPX.

Russell requested donations, in lieu of flowers, be made to Cures for the Colors, Southeastern Medical Oncology Center, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534, to help others still fighting this disease.

The family extends special thanks to Ann Rhodes, Bob DeVault and Charles Fields.
