CHARLOTTE -- Mattie Claire Reese, precious and beloved newborn daughter of James "Eddie" and Sherry Smith Reese of Charlotte, N.C., was born sleeping and went to be with Jesus on June 30, 2013.
At approximately 41 weeks gestation, she was born at Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C.
She is loved and survived by her parents; her big brothers, Evan and Brody; her paternal grandmother, Rowena Reese of Rockingham, N.C.; her maternal grandparents, Harmon and Jackie Smith of Goldsboro; her Uncle Paul and Aunt Jessica Smith of Charlotte, N.C.; her Aunt Naomi Reese of Sanford, N.C.; and cousins Emma, Lanny, Reade, Cate and Grady. She is also survived by her paternal great-grandfather, David Edwin Hudson of Rockingham, N.C.; and paternal great-grandmother, Alice Reese of Appleton, Minn.; as well as many more great aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She joins her paternal great-grandmother, Mattie Hudson; her paternal great-grandfather, James Arthur Reese Sr.; her maternal great-grandparents, George and Zella Wiltz; and her maternal great-grandparents, Jasper and Aileen Ginn in heaven.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on July 8, 2013, at Watson-King Funeral Home, 306 E. Franklin St., Rockingham, N.C., 28379. A graveside service will follow at Bethel Baptist Church cemetery, and a reception will follow for friends and family in the church fellowship hall.
