John David Person, 60, of 720 Charlie Braswell Road, died Friday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center with his family by his side.
Funeral is today at 4 p.m. at Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church, 752 Stoney Creek Church Road. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Hwy. 70 West, with military honors.
There will be a time of sharing with the family in the fellowship hall from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Surviving is a son, David Ray Person and fiancée, Jessica; David's children, Haley and Gaby Person of Goldsboro; a daughter, Ashley Person Nuwara, (Joey Millard); her children, Lana and Zana Nuwara of Goldsboro; the love of his life, Tracy Person Harrison and husband, Tommy; a very special sister-in-law, Debbie Morris and her son, Tyler; sisters, Ella Rose Grant (Ronnie), Margaret Lancaster (Gary), Teresa Beasley (Danny) and Judy Carol Hinson, all of Goldsboro, and Carla Vick (Jeff) of Pikeville; brothers, Charles Lester Person (Paula) of Pikeville, Tommy Edward Person (Angie) of Princeton, Gary Wayne Person and Jackie Glenn Person of Goldsboro.
Mr. Person, a native of Goldsboro, was preceded in death by his parents, Martha Ellen Jones Person and Lester Person; and a brother and sister, Ronnie Keith Person and Frances Jean Person.
He was a member of Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church, where he was a faithful servant and a member of the Good News Sunday School Class and Men's Prayer Breakfast. Mr. Person served his country during the Vietnam War and was a retired truck driver, and a very wonderful dad and papa. We love you.
