Ruth Naomi Bell Downes, 85, of 2710 Langston Drive, passed away Friday, July 5, 2013, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Formerly of Kinston, she was a homemaker and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert John "Bob" Downes II; and a son, William "Bill" Downes.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013, at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston, with Bishop Bryan Rouse officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday evening at Garner Funeral Home and other times at her home.
She is survived by her son, Robert J. "Bobby" Downes III and wife, Connie, of Durham; her son, Leonard Downes and wife, Anita, of Snow Hill; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
