RUTH P. BOYD

Ruth Peebles Boyd, 97, passed away Tuesday surrounded by her children.

She was born in Camden, Tenn., to the late James W. and Delphia S. Peebles, and was the widow of the late John F. Boyd II.

Mrs. Boyd was the oldest member of Providence United Methodist Church, having served as a teacher for the Men's and Wesley Sunday school classes, and a member of the board of trustees and Ever Member Canvass. She was also a member of the Gideon's Auxiliary North Camp. In 1941, she joined the Order of the Eastern Star in Tenn., was a member of the Goldsboro Women's Club as well as the Goldsboro Garden Club. She was a life time member of the Salvation Army Board, and a charter member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary. She also volunteered at Wayne Memorial Hospital, and was a member of the Walnut Creek Country Club Bridge Club.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Providence United Methodist Church with Pastors Terry Hobbs and Harold T. Anderson officiating. Visitation will follow the committal service at the church.

Mrs. Boyd is survived by a daughter, Janice M. Boyd of Goldsboro; a son, John F Boyd III and wife, Nell, of Garden City, S.C.; a son-in-law, John Parent; two grandchildren, Auburn Parent and John F. Boyd IV; and three great grandchildren, Charles, Eleanor and Isabel Parent.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Brian Center for their care of Mrs. Boyd during her stay there.
