JOHNNY C. GREEN

Johnny Green, 65, died Monday, April 2, 2012, surrounded by his family at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. His death followed 11 years of courageously coping with multiple system atrophy.
Johnny was born in New Hanover County Aug. 18, 1946, to the late Howard and Sue Green.
He graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School and Atlantic Christian College.
Until his retirement in 2006, he owned and operated Southern Marketing food brokerage.
Johnny was a member of Pine Forest United Methodist Church, where he had taught Sunday school and led numerous committees and the church council.
He was a member and past president of Sunrise Kiwanis Club.
Johnny is survived by his wife of 39 years, Marsha Thorne Green; his son, Jonathan Green of Wilmington; his daughter, Caroline Sutton and husband, James, of Raleigh; and his granddaughter, Ella Sutton. He is also survived by his niece, Dana Sasser of Nahunta.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Green.
The family will receive friends Thursday, April 5, 2012, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Pine Forest United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the church, with the Rev. Vann Spivey officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery, with the Rev. Dennis Adams officiating.
