Bessie Austin Woodall passed away Monday, April 2, 2012, at the age of 94.

She was born Jan. 20, 1918, and was the daughter of the late Lonnie Benton and Louie Langdon Austin.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Leonard Woodall; four brothers; three sisters; and also by a much-cherished granddaughter, Dr. Anna Woodall Hudson.

Bessie served the Lord with her husband in churches throughout eastern North Carolina for 40 years, and after his death, continued to lovingly and faithfully serve her church, Casey's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church of which she was a member.

A celebration of her life will be held at Casey's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 4913 U.S. 70 East, Goldsboro, Thursday, April 5, at 7 p.m. The Rev. Alan Lamm and the Rev. Carla Williamson will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the church, and at other times at her home.

The committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. April 6, at Princeton Cemetery.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Hinton and her husband, Jim; a daughter, Faye Jones and her late husband, Deacon Jones; a son, Dr. Hal Woodall and his wife, Sara; nine grandchildren, Vivian and Charles Hall, Christy and Russ Cox, Ken and Donna Jones, Dale and Lisa Jones, Tina and Steve Win borne, Lisa Johnson and Lori and Stephen Medlin; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Effie Barbour and Addie Wallace.

Although flowers are welcome, the family suggests donations may be made to the Leonard and Bessie Woodall Endowment Fund at Mount Olive College, 634 Henderson St., Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.

The family is being served by Casey Funeral Home in Princeton.
