Elizabeth Mayfield Murray, 92, formerly of Old Smithfield Road went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday morning, Feb. 24, 2012, at Goldsboro Assisted Living.
Funeral services will be held today, Feb. 26, 2012, at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Howell Funeral Home in Goldsboro with visitation afterwards. Burial will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Denmark Cemetery in Denmark, S.C.
Mrs. Murray was born in Denmark, S.C. on Dec. 21, 1919, to the late William Dowling and Marion Riley Mayfield. She was a member of Antioch Presbyterian Church and Presbyterian Church of America. She was a past member of Bethel Park United Methodist Church in Denmark, S.C. and retired from Bamberg Manufacturing Company in Bamberg, S.C.
She is survived by three daughters, Tressa M. Hancock of Florida, Edith M. Fail and husband, R.H., of Goldsboro and Sandra M. Pate and husband, Pressley, of South Carolina; daughter-in-law, Jean Murray of Tennessee; four sisters, Marion McGlaun of Virginia, Eleanor Wright, Katie Scannell and Wilma Bagwell, all of South Carolina; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard F. Murray; one son, Richard Franklin Murray Jr.; a great-granddaughter, Renee Stancill; and three sisters, Caroline Proctor, Christabel Zorn and Sarah Terry.
