Goldsboro, NC/Camden, SC -- Dolly Rackley Eakes, 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at Kershaw Health, Camden, S.C.
Funeral services for Mrs. Eakes will be held today, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, LaGrange.
She was born Aug. 31, 1914, in Wayne County to the late Clyde Pate Rackley and Johnny Hilliard Rackley. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, John Forrest Eakes.
She is survived by her daughter, Virginia E. Isler (Sidney) of Camden, S.C. and her son, John Robert Eakes (Doris) of Richland, Ga.; grandchildren, Kristie I. Summers (John) of York, S.C., Cher I. Duke (Jerry) of Isle of Palms, S.C., Mary Scott E. Freeman (Lee) of Atlanta, Ga., John Lester Eakes (Christy) of Albany, Ga., Susan E. Anderson (Harris) of Atlanta, Ga.; and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Lyttleton United Methodist Church, 1206 Lyttleton St., Camden, S.C. or to the charity of one's choice.
