DREW DALTON

Sept. 6, 1961-Feb. 23, 2012

R. Drew Dalton, 50, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at Hospice of Wake County in Cary surrounded by his family.

Drew was born in Troy, Ohio, Sept. 6, 1961, to the late R. Murray Dalton and Mary Lou Streeter Dalton.

He was a graduate and proud alumnus of the School of Architecture at the University of Cincinnati.

Drew was president of Dunn and Dalton Architects in Kinston.

He had a passion for golf, and was a member of Walnut Creek Country Club. If it was a beautiful day, Drew enjoyed being on the links sharing shots and laughter with his friends.

A reception celebrating Drew's life will be held Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Kinston Community Council for the Arts, 400 N. Queen St., Kinston. This building is an appropriate place to pay tribute to Drew's life because he had a great appreciation for the arts and will be remembered by his own work as an artist.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Deonna W. Dalton; his daughter, Kennedy Dalton; and his sister, Christy Dalton of Indianapolis, Ind.

Drew has always been very passionate about the importance of education and the promise that it provides to each of us individually and collectively, and to help realize this dream for his own family, a scholarship fund for his daughter, Kennedy, will be established. For those who may be interested in contributing to this scholarship fund, you may contact Dunn and Dalton Architects by e-mail at mail@dunndalton.com, and a response with information will be directed to you.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
