LaGRANGE -- Landora Cruse Lancaster, 83, of LaGrange, went to her Heavenly home Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, surrounded by her family.
A service of remembrance will be held today, Feb. 26, 2012, at 3 p.m. from LaGrange Church of God with the Rev. Arnold Ball officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Landora was born Aug. 22, 1928, in Wayne County to the late Joseph and Mattie Cruse. A devoted pastor's wife, she was wife of the late Rev. Paul Lancaster. Landora worked over 40 years with Denning Insurance which later became Wayne Insurance and Realty. Landora worked many years in foods service and was well known to customers at City Café, Piggly-Wiggly Deli and Food Lion Deli. She enjoyed surf fishing and time at the mountains. Landora enjoyed following UNC athletics, working with flowers, canning and freezing vegetables. Most of all she cherished time spent with her family.
Miss Landora is survived by three children, Paulette Burroughs and husband, Doug, Kaye Mooring and husband, Charles, Jan Lancaster and wife, Angie, all of LaGrange; step-daughter, Margaret Narron of Goldsboro; nine grandchildren, Kelley Graham, Austin Mooring, Kristin Mooring, Matthew Lancaster, Michael Lancaster, Jeremy Lancaster, Mary Beth Lancaster, the Rev. Todd Narron and Howard Narron; four great-grandchildren, Kevin Foss, Josh Graham, Mason Mooring and Ashley Jones; four sisters, Beulah Stroud of Goldsboro, Evelyn Ham of Goldsboro, Jessie Combs of Maryland and Dot Sutton of LaGrange; and a brother, William Cruse of LaGrange. Landora was preceded in death by two sisters, Alease Mozingo and Peggy Tyson; brother, Milton Cruse; and her step son-in-law, Rev. Melvin Narron.
