CAMDEN, S.C., and GOLDSBORO -- Funeral services for Dolly Rackley Eakes, 97, will be held Sunday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery in LaGrange.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Feb. 25, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
Mrs. Eakes passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at Kershaw Health in Camden, S.C.
She was born Aug. 31, 1914, in Wayne County to the late Clyde Pate Rackley and Johnny Hilliard Rackley. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, John Forrest Eakes.
She is survived by her daughter, Virginia E. (Sidney) Isler of Camden, S.C.; her son John Robert (Doris) Eakes of Richland, Ga.; grandchildren, Kristie I. (John) Summers of York, S.C., Cher I. (Jerry) Duke of Isle of Palms, S.C., Mary Scott E. (Lee) Freeman of Atlanta, Ga., John Lester (Christy) Eakes of Albany, Ga., and Susan E. (Harris) Anderson of Atlanta, Ga.; and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Lyttleton United Methodist Church, 1206 Lyttleton St., Camden, S.C., or to the charity of one's choice.
