Mr. Melvin Griffin, 67, 1613 E. Maple St., Goldsboro, departed his earthly life Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at Mount Olive Care and Rehabilitation Center in Mount Olive.

Melvin was born in Wayne County Dec. 15, 1943, to the late Katie Scriven Griffin.

He attended Goldsboro City Schools and Dillard High School.

Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at 11 a.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Chapel, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, with pastor David Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Old Mill Cemetery, 1474 Central Heights Road, Goldsboro.

A public viewing will be held today, Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at McIntyre Funeral Home and Florist, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, from 2 to 6 p.m.

Melvin leaves to cherish his loving memory three brothers, Edward Griffin and wife, Shirley, of Goldsboro, James Griffin and wife, Truemiller, of Wilson and Reginald Griffin of Griffin, Ga.; two sisters, Patricia Griffin of Fayetteville and Judy Griffin Jones of Jacksonville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Griffin, 1613 E. Maple St., Goldsboro, where family and friends will also assemble Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at 10 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
