JOYCE LEE CARTER

Joyce Lee Cater was born in Portsmouth, Va. to the late Stanley Ambrose and Nellie Valentine Carter. She was a retired teller with Crest Star bank, and was attending Pinkney Baptist Church. Mrs. Carter was a member of the Moose Lodge Chapter Richmond, Va.

A memorial service will be held on Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Pastor Calvin Craft officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of her daughters, Elizabeth Hughes and Terry Barfield at 104 Meadowcrest Drive, Goldsboro, this afternoon or following the memorial service at the funeral home Monday.

Mrs. Carter is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Hughes and Terry Barfield, both of Goldsboro, and Linda L. Taylor and husband, Martin, of Umatilla, Fla.; two brothers, Phillip Earl Carter and Herbert Carter of Highland Springs, Va.; a sister, Phyllis Johnson of Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren, Matthew Wood, Danielle De Rosa, Jeffrey Rigdon, and Cody Lee Barfield; and five great grandchildren, Brian Wood, Brianna Wood, Emily De Rosa, Dustyn Rigdon, and Haley Rigdon.
