JOANN LOFTON JOYNER

Joann Lofton Joyner, 52, of 300 Beale St., passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A visitation will be held on Monday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Greenleaf Christian Church, after which, the E.M. Matthews Angelic White Fleet will escort Mrs. Joyner's earthen vessel along with her adored family to Carver Memorial Park for committal rites.

She was born April 14, 1959, in Wayne County to the late George Lofton and Lillie Mae Lofton. She was a 1977 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and was employed with Moore Dental Lab for a number of years after a brief period of employment at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

She leaves to cherish her memories her mother, Lillie Mae Lofton, of Goldsboro; her devoted husband, Mr. Roosevelt Joyner Jr.; two daughters, Austi and Asha Joyner; two step-sons, Dequan Washington of Fayetteville and Isaac Washington of Atlanta, Ga.; seven grandsons, Tajmari, Jayden Joyner of the home, Tyler Washington of Georgia, Zionna, Oree Washington, Roman Washington, London Washington of Alaska; one sister, Wanda Hicks (Jonathan) of Raleigh; five brothers, Larry Lofton, Kermit Lofton (Lillie), George Lofton, Ricky Lofton, Earl Lofton (Deanne), all of Goldsboro; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; Bernard Dixon (Debbie) of Greenville, as well as a host of other in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

The family of Mrs. Joyner is receiving services of compassion and distinguished class by E.M. Matthews Funeral Home, where her delicate temple is peacefully resting.
