MARY V. CHAPPELL

HERTFORD, N.C. -- Mrs. Mary V. Chappell, 94, Hertford, N.C., died Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at W.R. Winslow Memorial Home.
Born in Perquimans County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Claudious Wray Hurdle and the late Alice Gertrude Meads Hurdle, stepdaughter of the late Ruth Hurdle and wife of the late Haywood Benjamin Chappell.
Mrs. Chappell was a member of Victory Baptist Church, and had worked at the hosiery mill and Colonial Sales.
Survivors include daughters, Ann Chappell Ayscue and husband, George, of Goldsboro, N.C., and Sharon Chappell Stanton and husband, Thomas, of Winfall, N.C.; son, William Wray Chappell and wife, Ethel, of New Hope, N.C.; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Hazel Lee Hurdle and Doris Meads Hurdle; brothers, Thomas Keaton Hurdle and Lloyd Wray Hurdle; and her grandson, Timothy Mark Stanton.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Twiford's Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Reggie Parker officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
