MARGARET C. CASEY

Margaret Chestnutt Casey, known by her friends and family as "Peggy," passed away on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, at Britthaven of Goldsboro, due to complications of Parkinson's Disease.

Mrs. Casey was born in Duplin County and graduated from Turkey High School. She worked at the Bank of Wayne for a short time, and after being married she worked at General Electric for over 20 years. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Frank and Myrtie Chestnutt, her brother, James Oliver Chestnutt, and her husband of almost 50 years, Kendrick Allen Casey.

Mrs. Casey is survived by a loving and devoted family, including her daughters, Pat Casey Newman of LaGrange and friend Dale Jackson, and Harriette Casey Albritton and husband Don Albritton of Suffolk, Va.; her grandsons, Mark Christopher Newman of LaGrange and Brian Casey Newman, presently a student at Syracuse University. Also, her sister, Martha Joyner and husband John Allen Joyner; sister-in-law, Ellen Casey Bryan and husband Cecil Bryan; nieces and nephews, Cheryl Rice, Joyce Cole, Steve Bryan, Suzanne Harrison, Glenn Bryan, Emma Kay Long, Jim Guin, Jimmy Chestnutt, Vickie Coggins; great nieces and nephews, Brad Rice, Amy Wier, Adam Cole, Ashley Cole, Kathryn Harrison, Bryan Harrison, Caroline Bryan and Nathan Guinn; along with several great grand nieces and nephews.

She was a very devoted wife and mother spending many long hours sewing, cooking, cleaning, and helping on the farm in any way. Her most favorite work and pastime during her healthy years was time in the beautiful yard that she was so very proud of. We would like to say a special thanks to Mr. Diamond Spruill and the Bryan Family for maintaining the yards, even when she could no longer get to see them. She still enjoyed the many compliments from friends and family regarding her home and beautiful yard.

Her favorite pastimes were church activities, writing poetry and crocheting.

We would also like to thank the special staff members of Britthaven, and special friend, Angela Reid. She had grown to love and appreciate each of you. Pat, Harriette and family are grateful for all your help, concern, and consoling during the difficult times through the progression of her Parkinson's Disease.

At her request, there will be a graveside service on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery in LaGrange. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Casey's Chapel Church, 4913 Hwy. 70 East, Goldsboro, NC 27530 or the National Parkinson's Foundation, P.O. Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
