RITA JOHNSON SMITH

Rita Johnson Smith, 54, passed away suddenly Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, at the home of her father, Paul Johnson.
Rita was born in Wayne County Aug. 19, 1956, to Paul Johnson and the late Honor Lee Johnson.
She had worked for many years with Strickland Insurance Co.
Rita was an active member of Goldsboro Worship Center, where she served many years as the nursery director, and was known as "mother" to many of the children.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Goldsboro Worship Center, with the Rev. Danny Johnson, the Rev. Travis Smith and the Rev. Lewis Forsythe officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.
In addition to her father, Rita is survived by her husband, Gene Smith; her son, Ryan Smith; brother, Dennis Johnson and wife, Deborah, of Goldsboro; and her father-in-law, Shelton Smith and wife, Charlotte, of Goldsboro. She is also survived by her extended family, the Smiths, and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home,and other times at the home of her father, 1413 N. George St.
