MOUNT OLIVE -- Sarah Thompson Houston Letchworth, 80, passed away early Friday morning at the home of a daughter with whom she had been residing.

The family will receive friends at Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church today beginning at 2 p.m. with funeral services to follow in the sanctuary at 3:30 p.m., with burial then following in Wayne Memorial Park. Officiating will be the Revs. Bobby Smith, Doug Bartlett, and Jeff Dail. Friends and family will be received at the home of Jo Ann and Steve Anders, 101 Scallop Place, Goldsboro.

Mrs. Letchworth, born Nov. 1, 1929, in Duplin County, was the daughter of the late Colonel W. and Katie Thornton Thompson. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Edward John Houston and Johnnie Paul Letchworth; an infant son, Charles Glenn Houston; and two brothers, the Rev. C. W. Thompson Jr. and William L. Thompson.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce H. and Doug Hill of Mount Olive, Deloris H. and Larry Sasser of Princeton, Jo Ann H. and Steve Anders of Goldsboro; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Terry Houston of Princeton, and Jerry and Connie Houston of Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; four step-daughters and sons-in-law, Johnnie Faye L. and Lucky Bland of Virginia, Angela Letchworth of Goldsboro, Pamela Letchworth of Wilson, and Paula L. and Michael Cobb of Wilson; grandchildren, Brian Hill and wife, Gina, Sherri Carterett and husband, Andy, Ashley Cora and husband, Hector, all of Goldsboro; Chris Anders and wife, Nicole, of Pikeville; Brenda Hudson and husband, Travis, of Newton Grove; Stephen Hill and wife, Dena, of Lumberton, Rick Jones and wife, Karen, of Virginia, Jennifer Anders of Tenn., John Houston of Okla., and Kayla Houston of Wilmington; step-grandchildren, Rachel Cobb of Wilson, Stacey Olmstead of Norfolk, and Andrea Gilbert and husband, Jacob, of Virginia; 13 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Susan T. Jackson of Mount Olive, Nellie T. Anderson and husband, Adolph, of Mount Olive, Mary Ann Holliday of Cary, and Peggy T. Percy and husband, Al, of Cary; and many nieces and nephews.
